More Yummy Recipes!!

More recipes today!!
I have always loved lemon loaf but I had never made one. I have memories of a friend in grade 3 whose mom would make the best lemon loaf. I loved going over to her house and I was always hopeful that lemony goodness would await me. Meredith and I made this lovely lemon loaf and it was great.

I’m all about the short cuts!! It starts out with lemon cake mix and lemon jelly powder. It’s a beautiful combination of sweet and tangy. I also love that the recipe makes 2 loaves. I make them both, cut them in half and freeze 3 of the halves. If I didn’t do that, it would be gone in no time!!

This next recipe is a plain old hot roast beef sandwich pimped out to be the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever tasted. Seriously.

You can make these ahead and keep them in the freezer or fridge until you’re ready to eat. But be prepared. There’s something about the onion, mayo, horseradish, and poppy seed mixture that is to die for. We’ve made them a few times. Isobel is not a huge fan of the sauce I love so much so I just make hers with mayo. I always use real cheese and I’ve only tried them with the roast beef. I’m thinking I might have to try them with turkey or ham or some sort of combination. I think they would also work really well on the barbeque. Pioneer Woman Cooks is a treasure trove of great recipes. Some of them are a bit complicated but this sandwich is not at all. Any of the more time consuming recipes on her site I pass along to Dave. We’ve haven’t been disappointed yet.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Is it Monday again already? Where does the time go?

School is wrapping up here. Meredith writes her final exam tomorrow and is celebrating by having all her friends over for a Sherlock-frenzy and some lunch.

Isobel is in her school's talent show today and has her Grade 6 graduation luncheon and ceremony tomorrow.

As of Thursday it's all over for another year! I can't wait for the summer.

This week's challenge was mine and it was all about office supplies. I challenged everyone to use office supplies on their project. I used a paper clip to hold my photo stack together and an index card for my journaling.

Thanks for looking. Now get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Yum Yum

I’ve discovered four really good and easy recipes that I wanted to share.  I'm going to share 2 this week and 2 next week. Just to keep you coming back!!
But first, let me clarify something.  I do not like to cook. I love to eat, but I don’t enjoy cooking.  I don't mind baking but these are all easy recipes. Easy and delicious. Just my thing!!
We frequently make banana bread in our house. I always used a recipe that called for butter but it was a pain in the butt to get that butter to  room temperature. Especially in the winter in my drafty house. Then I discovered this recipe.

It is so good!! Not only does it have chunks of chocolate in it (I just melt chips) but it uses Miracle Whip. It’s so much easier than the softened butter. And oh so delicious.
The next recipe I've discovered is for pizza buns.
Mmmmmm mmmmm good.  I love to keep pizza buns in the freezer for easy school day lunches and our local COBS bakery makes the best ones, but then I saw this post and discovered how deliciously easy they are to make.

I don’t make my own dough, I buy the raw stuff at the grocery store. It took me less time to put these little babies together than it took me to walk to the bakery. I keep them in the freezer and they are delightful.
That's all for today. I'm getting hungry! Stay tuned for more next week.

Project Life Pages

Here are weeks 22 and 23 to share. I'm still enjoying doing these digitally. I'm still enjoying all the great photography apps on my iPhone. And I'm definitely enjoying mixing things up a bit with some different supplies.

On week 22 I used the Becky Higgins Project Life supplies but on week 23 I used the Brushed Petals Kit by Katie Pertiet. This kit is one of my favourites and I use it all the time!!

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Where has the time gone?  I can't believe it's Tuesday already and school is almost out for the summer. Here's my page for the Weekly Challenge over on the Use Your Stuff Blog. Joy challenged us to take our inspiration from a photo. This photo:

What jumped out at me when I saw it were the flowers and the combination of orange and pink. I don't use orange often and came up with this page:

I hope you like it. Thanks for looking and enjoy this beautiful day.

Use Your Stuff Weekly Challenge

Well, it's that time again!! Time for another challenge over on the Use Your Stuff Blog. This week Barb challenged us to use flags on a page. Not an easy one for me. I've never used flags on a page before! I misted my page and mixed and matched papers from Simple Stories and Basic Grey and used some stickers and brads from My Mind's Eye. The flags were in the sticker pack and I misted some toothpicks to use as the flagpoles. I really enjoyed making this page and will definitely use flags again.

Thanks for the challenge Barb!

PROJECT LIFE PAGES

Up until this point I’ve been using the official Project Life papers by Becky Higgins - specifically the Turquoise Edition. I really like it. I like the papers, I like the colours and I like how it all coordinates. However, I’m getting bored. I’m not good at doing the same thing over and over. I don’t like to eat the same meal 2 days in a row. I don’t like to watch movies over and over. And now I’m learning I don’t like to use the same scrapbook papers over and over again either. BUT. (There’s always a BUT isn’t there?) I do like things to be consistent. I don’t like change and I do like things to match. A couple of weeks ago I changed from the Becky Higgins templates to the Cathy Zielske templates. I’m not sure if you realize how difficult that was for me. I’m sure most of you didn’t even notice a difference!! This week, I’m mixing it up even more. I’m not going to use the Project Life kit anymore. I’m going use whatever I feel like using on that particular day ~GASP~. Did I really say that? Uh oh. Please don’t judge me for not matching anymore. I’m okay with it. Really. I am.

Week 20 ~ Left Page

Week 20 ~ Right Page

On my Week 20 page, I used the Springtime Kit by Echo Park and created the collage on the left page with the Moldiva app on my iPhone. I used the Camera+ app to create the effects on the photo flower on the right page. I am loving the various photography apps out there. In addition to those two I also have PicTapGo, PicLab and iSplash in addition to Instagram which came with the phone. Halftone is a lot of fun too. It turns a photo into a comic!!

Week 21 ~ Left Page

Week 21 ~ Right Page

On my Week 21 page I used the Twitterpated Kit by Echo Park.

What do you think? Is mixing it up a good thing? Or am I going to regret it at the end of the year?

UYS Challenge

It seems all I'm getting around to posting these days are my Use Your Stuff pages. I have a bunch of ideas rolling around my head, I just need to find the time (and the motivation) to sit down at my computer and bang them all out. But for now, you're stuck with another UYS page.

This week on the UYS Blog, our newest member, Sarah, challenged us all to do a summer related project. I love doing summer pages, they always put me in a happy mood.

I did this page about Isobel. We were at Rocky Crest just waiting to pick Meredith up from camp. I love her smile and the pop of orange from her life vest.

I hope you'll head on over to The Use Your Stuff blog and join us in welcoming Sarah. We'd love to see your summer page too!!
